I’m not the most focused person in the world. Tonight I began work on a smaller painting (11″ x 14″) and I didn’t really have a big plan or anything, which was probably part of the problem, and I ended up putting too much acrylic paint on the palette. Well, after I got started I realized this error and decided that I couldn’t very well waste any paint at all being the cheap person I am. I had a solution for that. I have one canvas that is pretty much my experimental canvas. It’s made for messing up on and trying again. At any given time you can find something different on that canvas.
Well, as happens with me sometimes, I got distracted because I liked what I was doing on the experimental canvas more than what I was doing on the smaller canvas. Marybe I just like to work large or something.
Is it common to have more than one painting in progress at any given time?
Maybe that’s just me. I don’t know.
I imagine myself getting all set up, brushes and water and everything out and ready. I begin working on the canvas then realize that I had to do something like take the dog out. Suddenly, I am outside cleaning out the car for some odd reason and someone asks me what I am doing.
my answer…
“I’m painting. What’s it look like to you?”
