The Ins and Outs of Working From Home (x2)

I wouldn’t have thought that it would be possible in two years to get to where we are now. But here we are. Husband and Wife both working from home full-time. It has it’s advantages, disadvantages, ups and downs. Probably one of the biggest plus sides is that we both work for the same company, so sometimes one of us catch something in the forums that the other one has missed. We can ask each other questions and get straight answers without a whole long email process.

I also work with the church full-time (from home) and that fills quite a few hours each week too. Building PowerPoint presentations, getting the bulletins all made up, and putting together various video needs, not to mention other pastoral care type things that just need done throughout each week. I love my work life. It’s frustrating at times, but it’s also fulfilling.

But when it comes down to sitting down to get something done, sometimes our schedules get a little confused. Becca wants to go “do something” while I am in the middle of an email to support about a tech or layout issue a blogger has brought up. Or, I want to go out to a movie or something, and Becca is just sitting down to write a post. I think our work times are off most of the time.

We live in a very small apartment. About three rooms to be precise. It gets a little small when you are in it too long. I’ve lived here since 2003 and Becca and I got married in 2005. It’s getting smaller.

At any one time, half our stuff is packed in boxes. My desk takes up a third of the living room and if Becca’s working on her computer, I can’t get to my closet.

So now with both of us working from home, it may be time to find another plan here. But I sure like being able to pay off the debt quicker too. ;)

Sometimes I miss our little 3 room apartment. Our first place just had a bedroom with a bath off of it and then a shared living room kitchen area. It was a good time in our life. Our house is not very big but it suits us. The only drawbacks on houses are that you are the one who pays for everything to be fixed. No maintenance guy to call. I miss that most of all.
